Traveling to Switzerland has always been on my list but I never knew where to start when planning a trip. Well, luckily for me I have family friends who volunteered to be my very own local hosts and tour guides!
Because of this I was able to see and do so much more than I could have ever hoped of doing during my time in Switzerland.
Because there are just too many adventures not too share, here is a photo diary of all the special places I visited!
Our first stop was visiting Rheinfall, located in Switzerland on the Rhein River.
The Walk down to the falls.
During Spring and Summer, you can actually take a boat to the rocks and climb up to the Swiss Flag!
Lucky for me, it wasn't raining while we were there!
Next, we visited the amazingly cute town Stein Am Rhein, located on the Rhein River and near Switzerland's border with Germany.
Stein Am Rhein had a small local Christmas Market set up! It was the perfect spot for a glass of Glühwein (Mulled Wine).
The next day, we took a cable car up to the top of the Säntis, the highest mountain in Northeastern Switzerland.
The stunning view from the top of the Säntis.
The weather station located on the peak of the mountain.
This California girl made her very first snowman!
After traveling back down through the mountains, we went to the small town of Appenzeller where Appenzeller cheese is made.
Cleaning up after a long day of making cheese.
Exploring the adorable streets of Appenzellerland.
For my final full day, we visited the lakeside town of Rorschach, Switzerland.
I tried roasted chestnuts for the first time, a European Christmas Market staple, and they were warm and delicious!
We then took the ferry across the lake to none other than Lindau, Germany!
Enjoying the Christmas Market in the adorable Bavarian town of Lindau.
The ferry ride back to Rorschach, Switzerland was beautiful all lit up!
On my final half day in Switzerland, we visited the local church in their town, Niederhelfenschwil.
We then walked through the streets of Zürich propper.
I loved seeing the unique architechture of the buildings and the local shops.
Dessert at Sprüngli, a Swiss confectionery in Zürich, was such a fabulous treat! The macaroons were delicious!
A walk to Lake Zürich was the perfect ending to a wonderful and exciting weekend in Switzerland!
